My review of “366 Days of Beautiful Insects”
I was used to seeing pictures of insects in illustrated books, and I enjoyed being able to understand the physical characteristics of the insects from the photos rather than the beauty of the images themselves, but with this book I was simply captivated and moved by the beauty of the photographs.
Each photo features vivid colors of each insect (black insects are vivid black), and there is a sense of unity between the colors of the insects and the surrounding plants, making it amazing to see the environment in which each insect lives. I
was able to once again feel the beauty and diversity of insects, and their connection to nature.
We bought this book for my son when he was in the first grade of elementary school.
He wasn’t very good at reading, so we enjoyed it by looking at the pictures together and me reading the explanations to him.
One particularly memorable experience was when we went to the river in the summer and found a dragonfly that I had seen in a book.
My son and I were excited, saying, “That’s the dragonfly I saw in the book!” and we discovered a new joy in searching for insects in nature.
